Sand Jars

Updated: Nov 22, 2018

This craft is so adaptable to different themes. You could try using rainbow colours for an Easter gift instead of chocolate, Earth tones for a striking natural piece, or maybe make a large jar in Christmas colours for a centrepiece on the dining table. I found a round jar is much easier to make the patterns on the side. The colours never turn out as dark as the chalk you use, so testing a small batch is worth it if you are after a particular look. You can always use Conte Crayons for much deeper hues. HERE is a video of the process. It is just ordinary cheap table salt from the supermarket. I have used baby food jars in the past. It is a great way to use up scrap material, which can be matched to your theme.

Earth tones or pastel shades? The choice is yours.
